Outside of our regular meetings, panels, and readings, MWA-NY organizes events for our members to visit museums, see plays, and enjoy areas of interest in our geographic area. Past outings have included tours of Grand Central Station, a trip to see the Edgar Allan Poe exhibit at the Morgan library, and practice at a gun range. Our organization can often secure group rates for tickets, passing that savings along to members.
One of our recent and most successful events was a day-long writing workshop at Woodlawn Cemetery. Participants toured the cemetery and then learned writing secrets from authors such as Lawrence Block, Hilary Davidson, Linda Fairstein, Lyndsay Faye, and Heather Graham. The event even received press in the New York Times.
